Yes. That was DigitalArt
It was an idea, a comprehensive concept. I wanted to combine images and videos with digital possibilities.
Designed differently from what we see every day today.
My many years of experience in software development were the basis for combining art and digital. I was very excited about the idea!
The former hype surrounding “non-fungible tokens” gave me the idea to do exactly the opposite. It worked: images for you! A maximum edition of one million, but you get your own original. Provenance was included in the concept.
Visible Change was a follow-up project. Images and videos in large projection. But you had to do something yourself to see anything. All you needed was your cell phone. But no extra app, because everything you needed was already in there!
Why?
I worked professionally in software development for around 50 years. It was a great time. Also in terms of what I learned “beyond the digital horizon.” Sustainability was a major topic. Back then, in the mid-1990s, the German word “Nachhaltigkeit” (sustainability) was still completely unknown.
As a self-employed person, I was able to organize my free time well and devote myself to my equally important activity, art, especially photography.
Now, as an old man—I will be 74 this year— it is difficult to keep up with technology as a developer in the digital world.
For many years, I was with my provider with my website and the digital technology behind it. Due to technical problems, I had to terminate the relationship. However, with my new provider, I can no longer use the old technology (database and .NET). I would have to completely rebuild the hidden technology for DigitalArt. I feel too old for that.
I also have to cut off some old “braids,” i.e., websites. This will make room for new things.
